Challenge

edding wanted to develop a business model based on their patented label technology. They tried to streamline the process of fleet managers having to manually check the drivers licenses of full-time and temporary drivers. They identified this manual process as a core problem in the industry. It was very time consuming for the fleet managers and inconvenient for the drivers, as they had to book a 30 minute appointment twice a year for a task the drivers could complete themselves in 5 minutes.

Solution

edding wanted to automate the process of validating driver licenses for any vehicle fleet drivers, independent of the smartphone they are using. The solution included putting a transparent sticker on the drivers licenses containing a 3D surface that can be read by any smartphone screen. That way, the licenses can be scanned easily by the driver license holder themselves, resulting in a short task for the drivers and no more manual work for the fleet managers.

Motius contributed to the solution by creating a digital cockpit for the fleet managers, where they can add/remove drivers and intervene in case a driver is about to hit a deadline. A user-centric iterative approach was chosen resulting in an intuitive user experience.

The architecture was set up at the very beginning to scale to high volumes of customers/drivers with almost no additional effort.

The project delivered immediate success and quickly scaled up to more than 15000 users. edding has been able to build up their own inhouse-team after revenue increased continuously.
